Beginner’s Mat
This is not your first time.
The Beginner’s mat classes are for those who have either attended our Basic mat classes regularly for at least 6 weeks, or have attended Beginner’s mat classes elsewhere and feel confident in their Pilates practice. You feel more confident and stronger in your Pilates practice and and are able to maintain abdominal connection throughout the exercises.
The name of the exercising are becoming familiar to you and so is your Pilates breath. You now know how to position your neck safely during exercising, so as not to strain your neck or shoulders.
You’ve become stronger, have more stamina and endurance, and the repetitions of each exercise has increased, challenging you a little more.
The Beginner classes are run at a little faster pace than that of the Basic mat classes.
As with every class, you will start with a warm up mobilising and stretching the neck, shoulders, back and hips.
The Pilates exercises you will learn are:
Ab prep (feet on a wall or over a bed or chair)
Single leg stretch prep (feet on a wall or over a bed or chair)
Obliques (feet on a wall or over a bed or chair)
Crisscross prep (feet on a wall or over a bed or chair)
Double leg stretch prep
Circles in the air with bent knees
The one hundred
Swan prep
Breast stroke prep
Clam
Inner thigh
Seated spine stretch
Saw
Mermaid and so many more.
The classes end with a cooldown, stretching the muscles worked and a time for relaxation and deep breathing to finish.
